Schaumburg Summer Theater to hold 'Ragtime' auditions

Auditions for the Schaumburg Summer Theater production of "Ragtime" at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts will be May 22 and 23.

Schaumburg Summer Theater is open to all high school and college students 25 and younger.

Vocal and reading auditions for leads, supporting roles, and chorus will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, and Wednesday, May 23. For the vocal audition, a 32-bar musical theater song excerpt is required. (No pop or rock songs please.) A piano accompanist will be provided. Auditions for speaking roles will include a reading from the script.

Audition appointments are required. To register, visit www.prairiecenter.org (Youth Programs-Summer Theater). A limited number of walk-in auditions will be accepted as time allows. Callbacks will be from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, May 24, by invitation.

If selected for a role, participants must pay the registration fee of $100, payable first day of rehearsals (Monday, June 4). Auditions, rehearsals and shows will be held at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Court, in Schaumburg. The first rehearsal (full cast) will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, June 4, and rehearsals will run Sunday-Thursday evenings.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, July 27-28 and Aug. 3-4; as well as 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 5.
