District 158 seeks principal for Marlowe Middle School
Huntley Community School District 158 is seeking a replacement for Marlowe Middle School Principal Henry Soltesz who recently resigned for personal reasons.
Soltesz joined District 158 in 2002 as a sixth-grade math teacher at Huntley Middle School. He joined Marlowe when it opened in 2005 and served as a dean, assistant principal and athletic director before being named interim principal for the 2016-17 school year and then taking on that role permanently.
"Over the past two years, Mr. Soltesz has led the school through some difficult challenges and has helped contribute to a positive learning environment for all students," District 158 interim Superintendent Bradley Hawk wrote in an email to employees. "We thank him for his leadership of the school and wish him well as he steps away to deal with personal matters."
Among the challenges was a series of social media threats made against students at the Lake in the Hills school earlier this year.
Marlowe assistant principals Rita Castans and Jennifer Fisher will lead the school for the remaining weeks of the school year, Hawk said.
The principal's job has been posted on the McHenry County Regional Office of Education's website. The deadline for applications is Wednesday.
