A real 'Spring Fling' success

The Assisi Animal Foundation's recent fundraiser was a refreshing spring event with a record number of attendees, making it impossible to fill last minute requests for seating. Held at the Crystal Lake Country Club, the event was the annual benefit luncheon and fashion show which featured the newest looks for spring from Chico's in Barrington at the Arboretum.

The Models were all part of the Assisi Animal Foundation and put their best foot forward to benefit the first no kill shelter in McHenry County, opened in 1988 and now celebrating its 30th year of "Saving Animals and Serving People.

Nancy Loo of WGN Channel 9 News was the featured celebrity hostess, sharing some of her background with the audience, and her husband Brian Jenkins, also a journalist formerly with CNN news, was a surprise guest.

Raffles and bid items were offered to help the animals, as proceeds will go directly to the Assisi Animal Foundation's no-kill shelter.

The 30th anniversary celebration will continue at the fall benefit dinner dance on November 3, also to be held at the Crystal Lake Country Club, which, as always, will apply all proceeds to the care of the many cats and dogs cared for by Assisi Animal Foundation.

Auction items are now being sought to offer at that event to benefit homeless animals. Many of which have become animal "therapists" who visit residents in convalescent and retirement centers. The A. A. F's Animal Assisted Therapy program was the first introduced in the area and continues to this day since its first visits even before the shelter building was completed 1988.
