The Clubhouse in Oak Brook serving for more than 20 years

An interview with Brian Lachman, general manager at The Clubhouse in Oak Brook.

Q: Tell us about The Clubhouse.

A: The Clubhouse was designed by legendary Chicago restaurateur Jerry Kleiner (Marche, Carnivale, Red Light) with the backing of celebrity investors Kevin Costner, Jack Nicklaus, Fred Couples and Robert Wagner. The original concept intended to evoke the grand atmosphere of a country club, while highlighting a contemporary approach to classic American cuisine, robust wine and cocktail offerings, and exceptional service.

The Clubhouse quickly became a favorite dining and banquet destination among locals and out-of-town visitors and has been satisfying the palates of diners for over 20 years.

Q: What does The Clubhouse offer to corporate meeting and event planners?

A: The Clubhouse's unique layout and spaces are well-suited for intimate gatherings and large events. We offer 4 dedicated private dining spaces, as well as several semiprivate areas to serve groups ranging in size from 5 to 800 guests.

Another amenity often overlooked is our proximity to Chicago, its outlying suburbs, and major airports. We're conveniently located at the Oakbrook Center shopping mall with easy access to I-88, I-290, and I-294.

When you're ready to plan your event contact Katie Mayers, our private dining manager.

Q: What is one hospitality idea that you are willing to give away to our readers?

A: Relentless attention to detail is what separates good hospitality from great hospitality. Be deliberate in everything you do, and always look for ways to improve and heighten the guest experience.

Q: Describe the atmosphere.

A: Comfortable, sophisticated, and grand. It's not just The Clubhouse, it's your Clubhouse - where you belong.

Q: What are some of the signature dishes served at The Clubhouse?

A: A must-try, and one of our best kept secrets, is our Lobster Bisque. It's been a staple since day one. We're also known for our Vodka Pasta, Meatloaf Sundae, Black Angus steaks, fresh seafood and monthly specials.

Q: Tell us a little about yourself.

A: I'm proud to call the west suburbs of Chicago my home. I presently reside in Villa Park, but was born and raised in Glendale Heights. I attended Western Illinois University and graduated with a BA in Broadcasting in 2008. I began my journey with The Clubhouse in May of 2007 as a host, dedicated myself to the business after college graduation, became general manager in the latter part of 2016, and have had the distinct pleasure of working with some of the best people in the business.
