Buffalo Grove Seeks New Vision for Prairie View Metra Station Area

Potential new land uses and development will be investigated and discussed in a series of public engagement activities relating to the Prairie View Metra Station, and the greater area around it. The Village has hired a planning and design firm to conduct public meetings to hear from stakeholders on what they envision for the future in this area.

The first of these meetings will be held Thursday, May 10, 2018 at The Arboretum Club

The project area includes residential and commercial properties, in addition to open spaces in the vicinity of the Prairie View Metra Station.

The Village of Buffalo Grove encourages the community to be involved in both the vision and plan for this area. All stakeholders, including residents and business representatives, are encouraged to drop-by anytime during the open house to learn more about the development possibilities, and provide input on what they would like to see in the future.

"This is a unique and important neighborhood for Buffalo Grove," said Principal Planner Nicole Woods, the project manager. "We will be looking to residents, business owners, property owners, and all other interested stakeholders for their thoughts and ideas. We encourage the public to join us for the first public open house."

The purpose of the open house is to introduce the project scope and process, and provide opportunities for the public to discuss their own thoughts. It will be facilitated by Ratio, the planning and design firm retained by the Village to guide the project.

The plan will explore the future role of the train station and the area around it, and how it serves residents and businesses, including Metra's North Central Service line that provides train service to the Prairie Grove Metra Station. The ultimate goal is to generate a community-driven vision and plan that will guide future development efforts. Anticipated completion of the plan is in late 2018.

The open house will be held on Thursday, May 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at The Arboretum Club, 401 Half Day Road in Buffalo Grove.
