Dist. 41's Dr. Sandra Keim named Elementary School Principal of the Year

Dr. Sandra Keim, principal of Thompson Elementary School in Lake Villa, was named Elementary School Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principal Association's Lakes Region on April 18.

The award was presented to her by Horace Mann and the Illinois Principal Association at Vernon Hills High School.

In honor of the award, students and parents at District 41's Thompson School in Lake Villa contacted "Card Your Yard" and had a sign displayed outside the school. Every class also make a sign in her honor, and a student from each class stood outside with their signs welcoming Dr. Keim into the building after the award ceremony.

Each classroom wrote in a book that was put together in her honor asking them to complete the sentence: "Dr. Keim is our favorite principal because ..." All students collaborated to complete the sentence and sign the page.
