Schaumburg Choral Programs are holding auditions for the 2018-19 season.
Schaumburg Children's Chorus
The Schaumburg Children's Chorus is open to students in grades 3 and up. Auditions will be held Thursday, May 3, 2018 -- Grades 3 - 5; Sunday, May 6, 2018 -- Grades 5 & up and Sunday, May 20, 3 pm - 5:15 pm (Alternate date if you are unable to audition on May 3 or 6) at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg, Ct., Schaumburg, IL.
For the audition, students should be prepared to sing a short song of your choice (an accompanist will be provided if you would like to bring in music, or you may sing a cappella). If students do not know a song to sing, they will be taught "My County 'Tis of Thee" at the audition. "Frere Jacques" (Are You Sleeping) will be sung in canon (if you do not know this, it will be taught at the audition). Students will have a mini voice lesson to explore vocal range and tone.
The participation fee for the Children's Chorus is $200 for the 2018-19 Season, which includes a family donation to the Prairie Center Arts Foundation, concert shirts, rehearsal materials, and folders. Installment payment plans available.
Rehearsals will be held Sundays, 5:30 pm - 6:45 pm, beginning Sunday, September 9. (start times will be earlier on some dates.) A complete schedule will be distributed at the start of the season).

Schaumburg Youth Choir
The Schaumburg Youth Choir (SYC) features high school and college students (ages 15-22) and performs regularly at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts and at special engagements locally, nationally, and internationally (as opportunities become available).
Auditions for the Schaumburg Youth Choir will be held Sunday, May 6, 3 pm - 6:20 pm and Sunday, May 20, 3 pm - 5:15 pm (other dates available by appointment) at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg, Ct., Schaumburg, IL.
Participants are asked to prepare a solo of your choosing (aria or art song, no pop or Broadway). If you are unable to prepare a solo piece, you will be asked to sing an a cappella folk song, e.g. "My Country Tis of Thee." Audition will include vocal range assessment and sight reading. Each audition slot will last approximately 8 minutes. An accompanist will be provided.

We offer a referral discount! If you know a potential SYC member and refer them, you'll receive up to a $25 discount off your registration fee for every new member you refer to the program -- we'll also take $25 off the new member's tuition.
