Boys volleyball: Lake County roundup

Libertyville d. Maine South: Libertyville swept Maine South 25-20, 25-14 in non-conference play and improves to 17-2.

"We are working on controlling our errors made in the match, and keeping our play consistent," Libertyville coach Jenny Smith said. "Our boys did a wonderful job keeping the speed of the game at our standard while defending and attacking against Maine South's tall block and attack. Excellent job by Jack Stevens, another no error hitting match with 10 kills on 18 attempts. Brendan Cook, also near perfect, was an offensive weapon tonight."

Cook had 7 kills while Colin Hawkinson had 5 kills and 2 blocks to go along with a team-high 8 digs.

Setter Carter Schaffnit had 21 assists.

Stevenson d. Vernon Hills Leo Chen pounded out 12 kills to lead Stevenson to a 25-18, 25-17 sweep of Vernon Hills.

Andrii Yerokhin added 8 digs for the Patriots while Will Sorenson had 18 assists.

For Vernon Hills, Derrick Jones had 6 kills.

Highland Park d. Mundelein: Abram Nazario had 3 kills and setter Steven Miritello had 12 assists to lead Mundelein.
