Mount Prospect police: Man tried to lure 11-year-old into car

Mount Prospect police are warning residents to be extra vigilant after a man reportedly tried to lure an 11-year-old child into his car Thursday.

Police said the man, described as Asian with spiky hair, pulled up alongside the child and asked if the child wanted a ride to school. The child said no and ran toward the school, where administrators called 911, according to a community alert from police.

Police said they were unable to locate the car, a gray sedan that was last seen driving north on Wheeling Road toward Euclid Avenue, and urged residents to call 911 if they see a car matching that description.
