Las Vegas Strip embracing Golden Knights playoff run

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The Las Vegas Strip is embracing the playoff run of the Golden Knights during their inaugural season.

The NHL team is Sin City's first major professional sports franchise and is making its playoff debut Wednesday when it hosts the Los Angeles Kings.

To celebrate, the Bellagio casino-resort has unveiled a five-foot-tall chocolate statue of Knights goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury.

Pastry chefs completed the statue in five weeks using 90 pounds of milk, dark and white chocolate, in addition to rice cereal and fondant.

Meanwhile, those driving will see a giant puck sticking out of an elevator tower on the pedestrian bridge that crosses the Strip outside the Cromwell boutique hotel and Caesars Palace casino-resort.

The Statue of Liberty replica outside the New York-New York casino-resort will be sporting a team jersey in the coming days.
