Weather concerns move up start time for Monday's White Sox game

The weather for Thursday's home opener was far from ideal, but Chicago White Sox starting pitcher James Shields did the best the could at Guaranteed Rate Field.

"There's not many times you pitch in the snow, and it was snowing pretty good for a few innings there," Shields said after throwing 5 innings against the Tigers. "It was a tough day to pitch, a tough day to play baseball in general. It's unfortunate."

With snow and frigid temperatures in the forecast again Monday night, the White Sox moved the starting time for their game against Tampa Bay from 7:10 p.m. to 1:10 p.m.

Parking lots will open to the general public at 11 a.m. and gates to the ballpark will open at noon.

The Sox also announced fans holding used or unused tickets and parking coupons for Monday's game against the Rays can redeem those tickets and coupons for a comparable ticket to any future game, excluding the Cubs series (Sept. 21-23).

Tickets for Monday's game can be redeemed at the Guaranteed Rate Field box office beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday.
