Pitching matchups: The Sox's James Shields (1-0) vs. Jordan Zimmermann (0-0) Thursday at 3:10 p.m.; Lucas Giolito (0-0) vs. Michael Fulmer (0-1) Saturday at 1:10 p.m.; Reynaldo Lopez (0-0) vs. TBA Sunday at 1:10 p.m.

At a glance: The White Sox are back for their first home series after opening the season at Kansas City and Toronto. The Tigers are just happy to be out of Detroit. Opening the season at Comerica Park, bad weather postponed three of the Tiger's first seven games, including Thursday's scheduled meeting vs. the Royals. Detroit did play a doubleheader against the Pirates on Sunday and is off to a 1-4 start. Miguel Cabrera has the Tigers' only home run and the 34-year-old first baseman leads the club with 5 RBI. The White Sox were 10-9 vs. Detroit last season. In 73 career games vs. the Tigers, Jose Abreu is batting .345 with 15 home runs and 47 RBI.
