Farm bureau to host Touch-A-Tractor

The 13th annual Touch-A-Tractor will be held April 6-8 on the front lawn of the Kane County Farm Bureau, 2N710 Randall Road, at Oak Street, in St. Charles.

Hours will be noon to 4 p.m. Friday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

A full day of family fun will cost $5 to benefit Kane County Farm Bureau Foundation, Ag Literacy and Scholarship Programs.

The public is invited to this Kane County Farm Bureau event. Admissions to the event are a donation of $5 per family, or $2 per adult, or show a Winner's Choice Raffle ticket stub for free admission for your family.

Tractor enthusiasts are invited to contact the Farm Bureau to bring their antique tractors for display at the event.

Kids can participate in hands-on activities, ride pedal tractors, shell corn, see farm animals and baby chicks, make their own music at the percussion string, take pictures with farm-themed backdrops, and play and sit in the seat of one of dozens of tractors. There will be a free Pedal Tractor Drawing for kids age 8 or younger, one entry per child. Winner need not be present.

As part of the Harvest for ALL hunger relief effort, one additional entry to the free Pedal Tractor Drawing will be given to those who bring nonperishable food items to Touch-A-Tractor. Food items will then be donated to a local food pantry.

There also will be events such as face painting and book readings throughout the weekend.

The Kane County Farm Bureau Foundation will sell tickets for the 2018 Winner's Choice Raffle, a 1965 Ford F100 pickup truck. The grand prize winner, announced at the 4-H Blue Ribbon Sale during the Kane County Fair on July 22, will choose from the 1965 F100 Ford pickup truck, or a John Deere X350 riding lawn mower, or $3,500 in cash.

Second prize will be $500 in groceries, third prize $500 in fuel, and fourth prize $250 in Kane County Farm Bureau Bucks.

Tickets are $15 each, two for $25, or 5 for $50. The Winner's Choice Raffle is the primary fundraiser for foundation college scholarships.

The Kane County Farm Bureau Foundation will announce 24 college scholarship recipients for the 2018-2019 academic year at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 8.
