Facing up to lost wars

I clearly remember thinking that the U.S. was losing the Vietnam War if indeed it had not already lost it. I am now thinking that we have been losing the war in Afghanistan for a long time now. I see no benefit to our continuing to wage war there. It's an artificial country that will never be a stable representative democracy or even a country with a strong and effective central government. Let's suck it up and leave.
