Hersey's girls water polo team prevailed in a matchup of divisional co-leaders by topping Elk Grove 7-3 in Mid-Suburban East action on Monday.
Tamara Mladjenovic and Annie Lindgren both had had a pair of goals for the visiting Huskies, who stayed unbeaten overall.
Claire Lutz stopped 8 shots for Hersey (8-0, 3-0), which took top honors over the weekend in the Glenbrook South tournament over the weekend.
Elk Grove, which got 14 saves in goal from Melena Herrera, slipped to 5-3 and 2-1.
Prospect 12, Buffalo Grove 4: Senior Colleen Doyle scored a game-high 6 goals, while Caitlin Broz had 3 and Amanda Baenke 2 to help keep the Knights tied with Hersey for the MSL East lead. Prospect's record improved to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the division.
Schaumburg 7, Palatine 4: Kailey Cordova scored a game-best 5 goals to help the Saxons (4-5, 2-1) come away with an MSL West win at Palatine.
Ellis Nelson scored twice to pace the Pirates (1-11, 0-3).
Barrington 15, Hoffman Estates 6: Jackie West paced a potent Fillies attack with 6 goals, and Morgan Kelly and Emily Schulze had 2 apiece in MSL West action.
Rebecca Cheeseman stopped 4 shots in goal for Barrington (3-2, 2-1), which pulled away with 7 fourth-quarter goals.
Abigail Fuscone paced the scoring for Hoffman Estates (4-4, 1-2) with 4 goals, and Katheryn Chapek-Segal made 16 saves.
Conant 12, Fremd 5: The Cougars protected their MSL West lead with a win at Fremd.
Olivia Olszewski scored a game-high 7 goals to lead Conant (8-1, 3-0). Nia Tsoulos scored twice, Aly Wooley contributed 6 steals and Lauren Day stopped 8 shots in goal.
Lauren Streitmatter paced Fremd (2-6, 1-2) with 2 goals.
