McHenry County Judge worth retaining
I don't often pick up a Republican primary ballot. I may have to make an exception March 20 because of an important four-way race for circuit judge in McHenry County. The incumbent, Robert Wilbrandt, deserves to win.
Last fall, Judge Wilbrandt and I were among those who spoke out at an Illinois Health Facilities Services and Review Board public hearing in Woodstock, concerned about Centegra's removal of all medical/surgical and intensive care beds from our hospital.
While there were many reasons to be upset, Judge Wilbrandt raised a unique, thoughtful objection based on our county's growing opioid addiction problem. He said that McHenry County has a significant need for detox beds and treatment facilities, and that the opioid problem can't be solved through punishment alone. That's an example of true insight based on what he's seen from the bench.
On the experience front, Judge Wilbrandt is the only one of the candidates to serve as a judge - since 2006. And a snapshot of some of his prior work is just as impressive:
• Acting as a legal adviser for Turning Point
• Serving in the McHenry County Public Defender's Office
• Teaching at McHenry County College for 25+ years
Keen insights. Judicial experience. Concern for McHenry County and the people who appear before him. Three excellent reasons why Judge Robert Wilbrandt deserves McHenry County voters' support on March 20.
