Chicago Bears agree on 2-year deal with backup OL Sowell
The Bears agreed to terms on a two-year deal with backup offensive lineman Bradley Sowell, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
Sowell, who turns 29 in June, started the final two games last season because of injuries and showed the versatility to play guard and tackle. He replaced left guard Josh Sitton in Week 16 and then stepped in at right tackle for Bobby Massie in the season finale.
The 6-foot-7, 309-pound six-year veteran has been used primarily as a tackle in the NFL, and he started nine games for the Seahawks in 2016, including six at left tackle and three at right tackle. He started 12 games for the Cardinals in 2014, all at left tackle.
Sowell was originally signed as an undrafted rookie out of Mississippi by the Buccaneers in 2012. But he was signed off their practice squad by the Colts and played briefly in 10 games that year for Indianapolis.
