Brotherhood of Harmony offers free singing lessons

The Brotherhood of Harmony, a men's a cappella chorus based in Schaumburg, is offering a free, six-week program of singing instruction beginning Thursday, March 15, at Friendship Village in Schaumburg, 350 W. Schaumburg Road.

Brian Cromer, director of the Brotherhood of Harmony, is teaching the "Ready, Set, Sing!" course Thursdays beginning March 15. The sessions last approximately 75 minutes beginning at 7 p.m.

"Give us six Thursday evenings," Cromer said, "and we'll give you the skills you need to experience all the fun of solo or group singing."

Singers of all skill levels and experience are invited, and learning materials are free.

"You don't even need to be able to read music," Cromer said. "We'll teach you everything you need to know to sing richly and with resonance to produce ear-pleasing harmony. Our participants will quickly be producing beautiful harmony without the aid of a piano and in the company of a great bunch of fellow singers."

"We've found that everyone seems to enjoy singing," said Tom Toftey, president of the chorus, "whether it's in the shower, the car, or at church. Many of us are unsure about singing in front of others. Through this program, we want to help men get the most beautiful sound possible from their voices."
