The initial draft of Vernon Hills 2018-19 budget is available at www.vernonhills.org/. Village officials say they want to maintain services while cutting costs and examining ways to increase revenue in the $22.9 million spending plan. Vernon Hills does not collect a municipal property tax and relies on sales tax to fund police protection, snow plowing and other services. The first formal presentation of the complete budget draft is scheduled for the March 6 village board meeting. Trustees anticipate the budget review will conclude March 21, with a public hearing April 3.
