Black history celebrated at inaugural Hoffman Estates event
Hoffman Estates' Cultural Awareness Commission hosted its first Black History Day celebration Saturday at village hall.
The free event featured music, singing, dancing, food and children's games. Cultural Awareness Commission member Demetrius Gibson spoke on the topic of "The Journey Continues" and winners of its first Black History essay contest were recognized.
