Jazz up winter In Good Taste; beer and wine tasting to benefit Hersey Band

Beat the winter blues by gathering with friends to enjoy music, beer and wine to benefit a good cause, the John Hersey High School Band.

A variety of craft beers and an eclectic wine list, live jazz and raffle prizes that include tickets for the Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, passes to Disney World, and a 2009 Faust Cabernet Imperial bottle of wine (value $600) are among the highlights of the Saturday, Feb. 3, In Good Taste benefit.

The 10th annual In Good Taste fundraiser will take place Saturday, Feb. 3, 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m., at the Metropolis Ballroom in Arlington Heights. Tickets are now on sale on-line for just $50 per person and can be purchased by credit card or PayPal at www.herseyband.com. Non-alcoholic tickets are also available for $35. Must be at least 21 years of age to attend. A cash-only cash bar serving spirits will also be available from 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.

In Good Taste features samples of more than 50 global wines and artisan beers, along with a wide array of hors d'oeuvres and sweets. Live jazz entertainment will be provided by Hersey Band alumni professional musicians.

The Grand Raffle prizes include: 1st Prize NHL EXPERIENCE: 4 tickets to any regular season NHL game in ANY arena PLUS a $500 gift card with Southwest Airlines; 2nd Prize THEATRE AND DINNER EXPERIENCE: $400 gift card to ANY Broadway in Chicago production PLUS a $100 Lettuce Entertain You gift card; 3rd Prize CULINARY EXPERIENCE: A cooking class for 4 people featuring hands-on learning from real chefs at the Cooking Skills Academy in Itasca, IL.

Grand Raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100 and can also be purchased online or the night of the event. Winner need not be present to win.

There will be dozens of additional raffle prizes, including magnums of premium wine from Cooper's Hawk, park-hopper day passes to Disney World, numerous area dining, theater, and comedy club events, yoga and fitness club memberships, and many other services.
