Famous Author to Visit Indian Grove School.
Students attending Indian Grove School in Mount Prospect will meet Andrew Clements, the best-selling author of the book, "Frindle," during a special school-wide event. Mr. Clements will talk about his stories, answer questions from the students, and sign copies of his books. He will talk to the students at an assembly at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 14 at the school. After the assembly, he will be in the school library signing books for students.
Andrew Clements is the author of the enormously popular Frindle. More than 10 million copies of his books have been sold. Clements says, "I didn't wake up one morning when I was in fourth or fifth grade and say, 'I know, I know! I'm going to be a writer!'
That never happened to me. I think the reason I'm a writer is because first, I was a reader. I loved to read." In high school, an English teacher once told him his work was good enough to be published. This made such an impression that he began to write in
college, even though it felt like hard work. Yet after college, Andrew became a teacher. It was only after several small writing jobs at a
publishing company that he wrote his first picture book. Now, he lives with his wife in Maine, where he continues to write.
