Minter named new principal at Prospect High School
Prospect High School Associate Principal Greg Minter has been appointed as the school's principal, starting next school year. Current Principal Michelle Dowling is retiring after 34 years in Northwest Suburban High School District 214.
Minter's appointment was approved unanimously by the school board Thursday night. He'll be charged with overseeing the school of some 2,100 students, most from Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights, and 160 faculty members. His base salary will be $166,000, officials said.
Minter has been associate principal since 2003. He previously served as assistant principal at Meadowdale High School in Lynnwood, Washington, from 1999 to 2003. He also worked as an English teacher at Waukegan High School, Warren Township High School and Illahee Junior High School in Federal Way, Washington.
District 214 officials said in a news release they picked Minter because of his experience at Prospect and his strong interpersonal skills.
Minter said he has a deep affinity for the Prospect community and wants to build on the work of his predecessors.
"I would like to consider how we can maximize our teaching talent, resources, and academic and extracurricular offerings to create a school that provides opportunities for students to pursue their passions, explore career pathways, and learn more about the world around them," he said.
