New patch for Mount Prospect Police

Mount Prospect Police officers will soon be wearing a new patch on their uniforms that has recently been selected by the members of the police department.

The new patch was designed to honor the law enforcement profession and embrace the history of Mount Prospect.

The patch displays an outline of the state of Illinois with a star representing the Village of Mount Prospect. The year 1917 is included on the patch to represent the incorporation of the village.

In the background of the patch is the thin, blue lined American flag. The flag honors the law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their communities, losing their life in the line of duty. The thin blue line also represents the oath that law enforcement officers have taken to protect our citizens from harm.

The new patch was designed by a patch committee comprised of officers, sergeants and commanders and voted on by the sworn members of the department.

The department's police officers are proud to serve the Mount Prospect community, serving with compassion, and protecting with courage.
