A student's courage

I'd like to applaud the efforts of transgender students like Nova Maday who are fighting for equal treatment in their schools. High school can be rough for anyone who stands out, and standing up like this puts an even brighter spotlight on her than there already was for simply being who she is. It takes incredible bravery to do what she's doing.

As for the argument that the accommodations Nova has are already enough, it will not be enough until she is treated just like any other girl in her school, because she is just like any other girl in her school. Dragging out this debate will only distract her attention and energy from the learning she's at school to receive.

Brava, Nova. I can't imagine how much courage it must take to do what she's doing, and as a teenager no less.
