St. Raymond girls raise funds at Volley for the Cure

In observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, St. Raymond School (Mount Prospect) hosted St. Mary (Buffalo Grove), Jefferson (Woodridge) and Parkview (Morton Grove) at its 10th annual "Volley for the Cure" volleyball fundraising event Oct. 19.

According to event organizer Carolyn Mueller, nearly $2,300 was raised and will be donated to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. She said that the event was well attended and that all matches were competitive, with six hours of volleyball games being played.

The gym was decorated in pink with banners and posters hanging on the walls, and there also was an "Honor Wall" in the gym where guests could remember loved ones who have been touched by or tragically lost to breast cancer.

National 2009 Blue Ribbon School St. Raymond School, as a parish elementary school (prekindergarten though eighth grade), is an integral part of the Faith Community of St. Raymond de Penafort in Mount Prospect.
