Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra to perform Holiday Pops Concerts Dec. 8-9

The Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra plans to delight concert-goers once again with its annual Holiday Pops concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8. New this season, an encore performance will be offered at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, inside the Music Building at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

The orchestra will play music of the holiday season, including contemporary and familiar traditional music and holiday favorites including, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and "The Christmas Song" ("Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire") featuring singer Marybeth Kurnat.

Pre-concert music will be provided by the NIU Suzuki Strings Program, directed by concertmaster Ann Montzka Smelser.

Post-concert music will be provided by the Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet. Refreshments will be served after the Friday night performance.

It is recommended to arrive early to this popular concert. Changes in programs, dates, times and location of concerts will be posted on the website.

Tickets go on sale 30 minutes prior to each concert. All seats are general admission. Individual tickets are $16, $11 for seniors, age 62 or older, and a special discounted price of $6 for students (with a valid school ID card), and $6 for children under 12.
