Winter Classes for Active Adults Now Registering for January

The Hoffman Estates Park District (HE Parks) announces its 2018 schedule of exciting classes for individuals over the age of 50. Classes meet at either the Triphahn Center at 1685 W. Higgins Rd. or Willow Recreation Center at 3600 Huntington Blvd. Classes begin in January and run through April or May.

The Active Adult Center at Triphahn Center was renovated in 2017 and expanded to 4,200 sq. ft including a new game room with new equipment, fireside lounge, kitchen and activity rooms.

The classes are open to residents and non-residents. Those who are interested can visit heparks.org for details and to register, call 847-885-7500 or register in person at an HE Parks facility. Classes include:

Gentle Yoga - Yoga can promote healing as participants' stress level is reduced and they learn to interact differently with everyday stresses. It can also decrease blood pressure, heart rate and respiratory rate while giving participants a renewed sense of energy and focus. Expect gentle stretching and modified exercises, which incorporate deep breathing and poses to strengthen and bring flexibility and greater balance to the body. Participants should bring a ΒΌ" yoga mat, block, strap and towel to class and dress comfortably. A variety of days and times is available including mornings and afternoons, weekdays and weekends at the Triphahn Center. Fee is $63 for residents and $68 for non-residents. Register with program #215324.

Basic Exercise & Movement - This class will burn calories and increase energy with low impact cardio exercise. Activities are designed to strengthen the entire body including the heart, and all muscle groups using tubes, small balls, stretching and strengthening. Participants will learn how to move the body to become stronger and more fit. Plenty of fun, laughter and great music are included. Register for two classes, and get 10% off the second class. Choose from multiple six-week sessions that take place at the Triphahn Center from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays through April.
