Vernon Hills board to discuss $12 million kindergarten center

Plans for a $12 million building addition for a kindergarten center will be considered by the Vernon Hills village board during a work session following the regular meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive.

Hawthorn Elementary District 73 wants to build a 34,950-square-foot addition to the Vernon Hills Park District's Sullivan Community Center, 635 Aspen Drive, to consolidate kindergarten students from four elementary schools into an 18-classroom facility.

The special use permit for the Sullivan Center needs to be amended by the village for the plan to proceed. Parking and traffic issues on Aspen Drive are expected to be discussed.
