Celebrate Native American Heritage Month at the Prairie Center with Bill Miller, Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers

November is Native American Heritage Month. Celebrate the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and histories and of Native people as the Prairie Center presents GRAMMY® award winning artist Bill Miller with Larry Yazzie and the Native Pride Dancers on Friday, November 17 at 7:30 p.m.

Bill Miller is an award-winning Native American recording artist, performer, songwriter, activist, painter, and world-class native flute player. Over the entirety of his career, Miller has produced over a dozen albums, received three GRAMMY® Awards, numerous Native American Music Awards & Association (NAMA) awards (including a "Lifetime Achievement" Award) and led Wisconsin's La Crosse Symphony Orchestra.

A Mohican Indian from northern Wisconsin, Bill Miller has long been one of the most admired figures in the Native American music arena and beyond. Throughout his career, he has been a voice for the voiceless, a link between two great and clashing civilizations.

Miller has shared the bill with such diverse artists as Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder, the BoDeans, Richie Havens, Tori Amos and Arlo Guthrie, and recently performed the title track on Look Again To The Wind: Johnny Cash's Bitter Tears Revisited, a special tribute celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cash's landmark album.

Miller will be joined by the extraordinary Native Pride Dancers, led by world champion dancer Larry Yazzie, combining traditions from the Northern Plains with the contemporary American Indian experience to introduce audiences to the beauty, cultural nuances, rhythmic complexity, rich history and storytelling found within the broad spectrum of Indian music and movement.

Tickets for Bill Miller with Larry Yazzie & the Native Pride Dancers are $20 ($18 for seniors and students). Tickets for all Prairie Center events can be purchased on line at www.prairiecenter.org or by calling 847-895-3600.
