Crash that left Barrington man dead still under investigation

Police on Monday continued investigating why a driver struck and killed a Barrington electrician working on the side of a Park City road last week.

Matthew Paulson, 29, was fatally injured about 11 a.m. Thursday on Greenleaf Street at Lake Park Avenue. He was hit by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu that left the road as it headed south on Greenleaf, Park City Police Chief Walter Holderbaum said.

The Malibu then flipped and stopped on the east side of Greenleaf.

The 23-year-old driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he was treated and then released.

Paulson was pronounced dead on the scene.

Park City police and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County are investigating. No tickets have been issued.

Paulson worked for Home Towne Electric in Lake Villa, said his older sister, Amanda Paulson. He was studying to become a state-certified electrician.

Visitation is scheduled for 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, 3700 W. Charles J. Miller Road, McHenry. A funeral is set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Justen.
