Pathway to Living Hires William Blake as Director of Community Life
Pathway to Living, a premier owner, operator, manager and developer of residential independent, assisted living and memory care communities in the Midwest, welcomes William Blake of Chicago as the new Director of Community Life.
A certified recreational therapist with 17 years of experience, Blake shares Pathway to Living's mission to change the way society thinks about aging and is helping to do just that in his new role. Blake innovates and oversees the wellness programming that brings Pathway's signature VIVA! lifestyle to life for its residents.
"We want our residents to be active, engaged and able to pursue their passions, whether it's as simple as gardening or something more extreme like horseback riding," Blake said. "Pathway gives older adults a chance to do things they've never done before or haven't done in many years. With the VIVA! philosophy, we can show the world that growing older can be a joyful and meaningful time of life."
Blake first became interested in recreational therapy while working for the Chicago Park District, where he provided programming for adults with special needs and helped link senior citizens with area events and activities. Blake earned an associate's degree from Moraine Valley Community College and a bachelor's degree from Chicago State University. Prior to joining Pathway, he worked at Methodist Hospitals, Gary, IN, as a recreational therapist, where he together with a team of health practitioners successfully introduced new patient programs.
