CROP walks raise money to fight hunger

Residents across DuPage County took to the streets Sunday to help raise money for local and international initiatives to fight hunger.

CROP walks - sponsored by area churches - stepped off in Lombard, Naperville, West Chicago and Downers Grove.

CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcoming Poverty.

Organizers say about 10 percent of DuPage residents, or roughly 100,000 people, are food insecure, which means they're unlikely to have three meals a day. Of those, supporters say, roughly 16 percent are children.
