North Chicago man arrested on gun, drug charges

A North Chicago man is being held on $100,000 bail on allegations he illegally sold a gun and drugs to an undercover police officer, authorities said.

Travaris J. Knox, 23, of the 2000 block of Grove Avenue, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a gang member, unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, possession of a defaced firearm, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, following his arrest Tuesday, authorities said.

Lake County sheriff's police said Knox is alleged to have sold crack cocaine and attempted to sell a firearm to an undercover detective with the Lake County Gang Task Force.

Police discovered a second firearm during a search of Knox's residence, authorities said. He is due in court Oct. 31.
