Question about son's kidney donation

I wish Chicago Police Chief Eddie Johnson all the best, but I cannot fathom any father allowing a 25-year-old son to risk his life and health for that of the father's.

I recall a story about a pair of brothers, Colorado, I think. One of them had a kidney problem and the other, who had a wife and kids, underwent the donor surgery but died as a result. Have to wonder how the surviving brother dealt with that.
