Classic cars highlight Street Fest in Mount Prospect

Randhurst Village in Mount Prospect is bringing together local community groups, stores and restaurants, as well as special entertainment and presentations, for a day filled with family-friendly fun in its Second Annual Street Fest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9.

The free event also includes a car show, games, music, dancing and food.

In honor of Mount Prospect's Centennial, the first 500 guests will be treated with free birthday cake. And, every 100 minutes, a $100 gift certificate for a Randhurst Village store or restaurant will be given away.

Matt Avery will interview owners of classic cars at 11 a.m. and showcase their vehicles. The award-winning writer and photographer is a weekly columnist in the Daily Herald, telling the stories of people who purchased classic and collector cars new and still have them today.

The Street Fest headliner is area favorite 7th heaven, performing from 2 to 4 p.m. The band is known for its "30 Songs in 30 Minutes" medley of songs from the '70s and '80s.

Other dance and musical performers include The Mt. Prospect Park District's Dance Ensembles, Trinity Irish Dancers, Forest View Elementary Choirs and some of the finalists from the Daily Herald's Suburban Chicago's Got Talent contest.

Food tastings and demonstrations will be offered by Randhurst Village establishments. Participating restaurants include BlackFinn Ameripub, Buffalo Wild Wings, e+o food and drink, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Truco Taqueria and Outback Steakhouse.
