Last year: Martin Truex Jr. kicked off a streak of three wins in five races at Darlington.

Last race: Kyle Busch won for the 40th time in the series - and for the sixth time at Bristol.

Fast facts: Of all the drivers without a win this season, only Matt Kenseth has won at Darlington. He did so in 2013. ...Truex is closing in the regular season title. Truex can at Darlington if he's 61 points ahead of second place after the race. Truex leads Kyle Busch by 101 points. ...Eleven different drivers have won the last 11 races at Darlington, and only Jimmie Johnson (3) has won more than once there among active drivers.

Since the first IndyCar race at Watkins Glen in 1979, Rick Mears is the only winning driver to go on to win the championship. Mears did that in 1981.
