Vernon Hills Lions Celebrate Lions Clubs International 100th Anniversary

Recently, Lions Clubs International celebrated its 100th anniversary with an international convention held in Chicago. The Vernon Hills Lions Club would like to congratulate its parent organization for a century of service. The Vernon Hills club was formed on March 14, 1983 and since that date has made

charitable contributions of over $260,000. Besides humanitarian services to sight and hearing-impaired

individuals such as free eyeglasses and hearing aids, local projects have included:

• Braille signage at the Vernon Hills Park District Sullivan Center

• Feeding the hungry with Lake County Food Pantry donations

• Educational support through scholarships to graduating students

• Sending special needs children to Camp Lions annually

• Participating in Adopt a Highway projects

• Staffing for Village of Vernon Hills blood drives

• Annually hosting an awards banquet for special needs athletes
