Come out for Wauconda's Street Dance

Wauconda's 18th Annual Street Dance is coming the Saturday before Labor Day. It is hosted by the Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce and sponsored by the village of Wauconda.

Main Street will be closed to traffic and filled with residents enjoying live bands while dining, shopping and exploring from 4-11 p.m. Sept. 2.

Admission is free, and 21 and older wristbands will be available for $1 for those who wish to purchase alcoholic beverages. Special edition "I love this town" Wauconda souvenir wristbands will also be available for $1 each.

The event benefits the Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry. There will be a 50/50 raffle and guests are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items for the pantry. Raffle tickets are on sale now at the Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce for $5 each or three for $10.

The Street Dance will feature two stages for musical performances, as well as a "teen scene" on the beach with a DJ. Activities and attractions include a bouncy house, a climbing wall, walking entertainment, and local cuisine and drinks.

The Wauconda Fire District will hold water fights before the dance at 3 p.m. at Mill and Main streets.
