Co-defendant held in Mount Prospect storage facility burglary
A man who prosecutors say took items, including firearms, from a Mount Prospect storage facility was ordered held on $100,000 bail Thursday.
Brett Masterson, 42, is charged with burglary and aggravated possession of a stolen firearm, after prosecutors say he and Heather Sechrist, 31, took two rifles, a shotgun, a 9 mm handgun and other property from a facility in the 1700 block of West Central Road.
Prosecutors say video surveillance shows Masterson and Sechrist at the facility on July 22 and Aug. 6 in possession of the stolen property, which included collectibles, video games and power tools.
Sechrist is in custody on a $75,000 bond. Both defendants next appear in court on Sept. 14.
Masterson has convictions for burglary, theft and forgery, prosecutors said.
If convicted of the most serious charge, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
