Girls volleyball: Guy's team-highs power Lake Zurich
Outside hitter Katie Guy posted 8 kills, 5 aces and 9 digs, and Lake Zurich's girls volleyball team outlasted host Highland Park 29-27, 25-20 in nonconference action Thursday night.
Bears setter Kylie Dykgraaf also served 5 aces and dished out 12 assists. Middle blocker McKenna Zobel pounded 6 kills, and Elana Kraversky notched 15 digs.
Vernon Hills d. Regina Dominican: The Cougars rallied for a 19-25, 27-25, 26-24 nonconference win to improve to 2-0.
Barrington d. Mundelein: The host Mustangs lost 21-25, 25-19, 25-17 in nonconference action, despite 6 kills apiece from Faith Krabbe and Alexis Naddy.
Naddy and Isabella Cartland each served 2 aces for Mundelein (0-2), while Thea Vogt contributed 2 kills and 2 blocks. Krabbe had 2 blocks, as well.
Buffalo Grove d. Grayslake Central: The Rams dropped their home opener 25-21, 23-25, 25-19, despite Lauren LaBeck setting 63 of 63 with 14 assists and serving 3 aces.
Cassidy Beshel and Amber Moser had 7 and 5 kills, respectively, for Grayslake Central (1-1). Lizzie Twardock notched 6 aces for the Rams.
