New Programs & Services For Seniors & Their Families Available
Support for Those Struggling with Senior Care Issues
When a loved one needs assistance, the entire family may be sad and struggling. "My father and my mother-in-law were clients of ours. We understand how difficult things can get," said Bob Tucker, a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP) and co-owner of Northbrook-based Senior Helpers serving the north and northwest suburbs to the Wisconsin border.
"So, we created a series of programs and support services to help our client families manage these difficult times. Of course, we can provide caring, professional in-home caregivers for one hour each week to around the clock care...but, we offer so much more to help families navigate through tough situations."
Here are some of the services that are offered:
Educational Family, Business Presentations & One-on-One Discussions and Recommendations
Senior Helpers is available to provide insight on a wide variety of senior care topics-at no cost to you. From Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Lewy Body and other forms of dementia, to fall risk situations, bathing and toileting challenges, issues related to social isolation, anger confusion and much more. They can also fill you in on all of the ways to pay for these services, what Medicare will pay for, and how to know when your loved one needs help.
Daily Logs Wherever You Are -
Here is an inside look, day-by-day of what your loved ones are doing. This information can be forwarded to you in a timely manner.
Lending Library, Materials & Equipment -
"We have cognitive games and activities that your loved ones will enjoy," said Abbie Tucker, senior advocate and client services director, certified senior advisor (CSA) and a qualified dementia care provider (QDCP). "In addition, our office maintains a wide assortment of books, DVDs, magazines and articles on senior care. Everything is available at no charge to any family or professional healthcare provider. We also have medical equipment resources so you know where to go for any type of equipment."
Respite Care -
Going on vacation? Need more time in your own life? Part of the Sandwich Generation? Contact Senior Helpers for short term care for your loved one-and needed rest and relaxation for you.
Memory Screenings -
Are you concerned that your memory is slipping? Senior Helpers offers a "free" Alzheimer's Foundation of America approved initial memory screening test that can help you understand if it is normal aging or something worth talking to your doctor about.
Holiday Helpers -
Because holiday time can be stressful for families with so much to do, Senior Helpers can provide a helping hand with any holiday task.
Other Services -
Senior Helpers can coordinate with long-term insurance carriers, prepare tax and other billing reports, offer gift certificates and provide an educational newsletter every month with great ideas to help keep your loved ones healthy, happy and safe.
Senior Helpers provides in-home and in-facility caregivers. They are the Alzheimer's Foundation of America Cares Affiliate office for all of Chicagoland and have established an Alzheimer's/Dementia/Parkinson's Care Resource Center for the community.
