Elburn Days blends summer fest with county fair

Combine a county fair and a summer festival and what you come up with is an event like Elburn Days.

Elburn Days blends agriculture-related activities such as 4-H judging and a tractor pull with traditional festival offerings such as carnival rides, live entertainment, craft shows and a mud volleyball tournament.

This year the 88th annual festival opens with a parade at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18 and closes on Sunday, Aug. 20, with a car raffle and 50/50 raffle.

In between, visitors can enjoy bingo, a petting zoo, a charity race, dance performances and a beer garden. Musical performers include Rebel Soul Revival and Back Country Roads on Friday; Stroker Red, Hillbilly Rockstarz and Josh Thompson on Saturday; and Kashmir and Hi Infidelity on Sunday.

On Saturday guests can park at the Elburn Metra station and hop on a shuttle to the festival grounds at 500 N. Fillmore St.

The Elburn Lions Club sponsors the event, which is its largest fundraising event of the year, and proceeds go to support Elburn Lions Park and Elburn Lions Charities. Admission is free.
