Shutout ends seven-game streak for Boomers

AVON, Ohio - The Schaumburg Boomers saw a seven-game win streak come to an end with a 14-0 shutout loss to the Lake Erie Crushers in the opener of a weekend series on the road Friday night.

Lake Erie jumped out with 3 runs in the bottom of the first and did not look back. The early support was more than enough for starter Juan Caballero, who struck out 10 in a complete game shutout. The Crushers finished with 18 hits and matched the third most runs and hits allowed by the Boomers in single game team history. Schaumburg finished with just two hits, the first of which came from David Harris in the fourth. Ryan O'Malley, who started the game at first base, finished out the contest on the mound, striking out the side around a pair of walks in the eighth. Kyle Westwood and Evan Boyd also logged scoreless innings. Kagen Hopkins lasted only four innings, suffering the loss after allowing 11 runs on 12 hits.
