Naperville Sports Weekly Kicks off Season 11 on Sunday, August 20

On Sunday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m. Naperville Sports Weekly returns to Channel 17 for its 11th season of bringing viewers all the action from every girls' and boys' varsity sport at six local area high schools: Benet Academy, Metea Valley, Naperville Central, Naperville North, Neuqua Valley, and Waubonsie Valley.

Led by sports director Justin Cornwell, this fast-paced 30-minute show kicks-off the season with its traditional Football Preview Show, and for the first time, the show will be anchored by a woman, Allie Kaleta.

"I'm excited to cover all the action in the DuPage Valley and East Suburban Catholic Conferences; both known for their high level of athletic competition and multiple state championship teams," said Kaleta, "I am looking forward to working alongside the Naperville Sports Weekly sports team as well as all the athletes and coaches to make this another memorable season."

Over the years, Naperville Sports Weekly has evolved to meet the needs of the community; expanding the types of stories and specials produced and by covering emerging sports as they grow in popularity to become official IHSA sports. The goal being to provide a truly comprehensive view of the local sports scene

This year the show will feature two new segments so viewers can learn more about local high school athletes beyond their sport. NCTV17 is replacing the traditional athlete interview with Take 5; a short, fun segment where each week a male and female athlete answer five quick questions ranging from, "What is your favorite movie?" to "What is a song you listen to that pumps you up before a game?". Off the Field will focus on the activities of an athlete...off the field…such as the student-athlete's academics, charity involvement or other form of extracurricular participation

In addition to airing a new episode each Sunday at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 17 in Naperville on Comcast and WOW! and Channel 99 on AT&T, Naperville Sports Weekly can be viewed via live video streaming and on-demand at NCTV17.com.

Naperville Sports Weekly is brought to the community through the generous support of local area businesses such as presenting sponsor BMO Harris Bank and additional sponsors Edward-Elmhurst Health, Aurelio's Pizza, Molly Maid Aurora-Naperville Area, Edgewood Clinical Services, Promenade Bolingbrook, the Daily Herald, and WOW!
