Northwestern to host 8 nonconference games at Allstate Arena
Coming off a 24-win season and a berth in the NCAA tournament, Northwestern men's basketball team will play eight home games at Allstate Arena for its nonconference schedule this season, team officials announced Thursday.
All of NU's 2017-18 home games will be played in Rosemont while a major renovation of Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston continues. The full Big Ten schedule has not been release.
In nonconference play, the Wildcats will participating in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, hit the road for the annual Big Ten / ACC Challenge, and take part in the Gavitt Tipoff Games for the second straight year as they host Big East foe Creighton. The Bluejays earned a top-10 national ranking during the 2016-17 season en route to winning 25 games.
As part of its nonleague slate, Northwestern will play several local teams, hosting Chicago State, and playing DePaul at the new Wintrust Arena in Chicago before returning to Rosemont to host Lewis University.
Head coach Chris Collins returns four starters and his top five scorers from last season's team, which posted a school-record 24 victories.
Although the Big Ten schedule has not been released, Northwestern is slated to host Illinois, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, and Wisconsin at Allstate Arena.
It's away opponents are Indiana, Iowa, Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State and Wisconsin.
