Elmhurst cops detain Winfield man in sex abuse probe

Elmhurst police say they detained a 62-year-old Winfield man on Thursday as part of an investigation into a criminal sexual abuse complaint involving a 15-year-old girl from Lombard.

The girl told police the man sat next to her on a westbound Metra train about 4:15 p.m. at the Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago and began to inappropriately touch and photograph her.

The girl moved to another seat and notified a Metra staff member who stopped the train in Elmhurst and called police, who took the man into custody.

The train was briefly delayed.

Authorities said the case now is being investigated by Metra and Union Pacific police.
