Big trucks for kids in Barrington:

Barrington Park District will host a big trucks event Saturday, Aug. 5, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Ron Beese Park, 50 Rotary Drive. The free, family-oriented event will feature dozens of big trucks in the parking lot for children to climb in and explore. Fire engines, garbage trucks, village of Barrington vehicles, tow trucks and others will be on site. There also will be an inflatable slide, train rides, free Chick-fil-A sandwiches and drinks for purchase. Those who bring a food donation of cereal, peanut butter, dried beans and canned items will be entered into a prize basket raffle. All donations will go to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
