Boomers swept in doubleheader

AVON, Ohio - The Schaumburg Boomers were swept by the Lake Erie Crushers in a doubleheader on Saturday.

Schaumburg has now dropped a season-high five straight after accumulating just 10 total hits. Lake Erie plated 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth to break open the first game as part of an 8-0 win. Lake Erie starter Juan Caballero pitched a complete game, striking out eight. The Boomers held a 2-0 lead in the second contest but could not hang on for a 3-2 extra-inning loss. Sean Godfrey connected on his third homer of the season in the first inning with 2 strikes and 2 outs. David Harris added an RBI double in fourth. Lake Erie evened the game in the fifth and won the contest when former Boomer Jordan Dean notched a game-winning single in the eighth.
