Kraft Heinz Glenview employees package meals to help hungry

The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation hosted a meal packaging event on Tuesday, June 27, in partnership with Rise Against Hunger at the Kraft Heinz Innovation Center in Glenview. Together, local Kraft Heinz employees and village of Glenview officials volunteered and packaged more than 120,000 nutritious meals for people in need in Mozambique and Zambia.

The event supported the company's commitment to provide 1 billion meals by 2021.

"In support of our Vision to be the Best Food Company, Growing a Better World, The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation is committed to the fight against global hunger and malnutrition," said Caroline Krajewski, president of The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation. "We're excited to partner with Rise Against Hunger to host meal packaging events across the world this year - like the June 27 event in Glenview - engaging our global employees in helping us deliver 1 billion meals to people in need by 2021."

Kraft Heinz believes everyone deserves to have access to the nutritious food they need to reach their full potential, but according to the U.N., hunger affects nearly 800 million people worldwide. To address this challenge, in 2001, The Kraft Heinz Company Foundation launched its signature philanthropic program, the Kraft Heinz Micronutrient Campaign, which the June 27 event supported.

In addition to donated meal ingredients, the foundation manufactures and donates powdered micronutrient supplements, developed by Kraft Heinz food science and nutrition experts, to nutritionally fortify hunger relief meals that support children's health and development by providing 18 essential vitamins and minerals.

Kraft Heinz donates the micronutrient powders to Rise Against Hunger for inclusion and distribution in hunger relief meals like those packaged at the June 27 event. Since 2013, Kraft Heinz has produced and donated enough micronutrient powder to nutritionally fortify more than 167 million hunger relief meals.
